6 FRAME Jumbo 14x12 NUC OF BEES - Due May/June 2025
A 6 frame nuc on Jumbo 14x12 sized frames available in a Paynes polystyrene nuc which is yours to keep and ideal for housing swarms or as an extra hive.
With roughly about 12,000 bees and a marked and mated queen, our nucs are bound to have a great start in the spring after you collect them. There will be minimum of 3 frames of brood and plenty of stores, everything that a colony needs to thrive. We pride ourselves on the good condition of the nucs and we believe you wont be disappointed. We are commercial bee farmers with decades of beekeeping experience between us.
Our overwintered nucs are built up during the previous summer on new frames with fresh foundation and a nice young queen. The queens are raised by us in our Sussex based queen rearing operation. We nurture them as they build up and are regularly checked for signs of disease or problems to ensure the colony is healthy and the queen is of good stock. They are also checked regularly by the bee inspectors from the National Bee Unit. Only then, once we are 100% happy with them, do we prepare them for early spring collection by our customers.

FAQs

When are Nucs of Bees ready?
The nucs are ready from April in any normal season and we have them available until around July/August. The earlier you pre-order, the earlier you'll get them in the Spring.
Can you delivery them?
Yes, we use our own delivery van to deliver your bees to addresses throughout the South East for a small delivery charge. Not only may you find this more convenient for yourself but you'll know the bees are being fully looked after throughout the transit by professional beekeepers.
You can also collect your nuc of bees on one of our 'collection days' that generally happen once a week throughout Spring/Summer.
Will I need to feed my new bees?
If you have brought a nuc of bees, then you'll want to feed them sugar syrup to help them 'draw out' any new frames that you have in the brood box. You can stop feeding when they have drawn them all out and are using them to store either brood or stores. Depending on the season/weather/bees, this could be a week of feeding, or 4 weeks of feeding. Even if there is a strong natural nectar flow going on when you collect them, still offer them food. Although the bees are not that fussy, a 1:1 sugar/water solution is fine.
