Package Bees - Ready May/June
Essentially a box of bee with a mated queen. Unlike a nuc of bees, these are not established on any type of frame so they can be placed/shaken into any hive type for them to establish themselves onto their own frames. Ideally suited to those with warre hives or Top Bar Hives.
Collection only from our Pickup point in Hassocks, normally around May/June but does depend on the weather and season.

When are Nucs of Bees ready?
The nucs are ready from April in any normal season and we have them available until around July/August. The earlier you pre-order, the earlier you'll get them in the Spring.
Can you delivery them?
Yes, we use our own delivery van to deliver your bees to addresses throughout the South East for a small delivery charge. Not only may you find this more convenient for yourself but you'll know the bees are being fully looked after throughout the transit by professional beekeepers.
You can also collect your nuc of bees on one of our 'collection days' that generally happen once a week throughout Spring/Summer.
Will I need to feed my new bees?
If you have brought a nuc of bees, then you'll want to feed them sugar syrup to help them 'draw out' any new frames that you have in the brood box. You can stop feeding when they have drawn them all out and are using them to store either brood or stores. Depending on the season/weather/bees, this could be a week of feeding, or 4 weeks of feeding. Even if there is a strong natural nectar flow going on when you collect them, still offer them food. Although the bees are not that fussy, a 1:1 sugar/water solution is fine.
